On August 22, 2013, the UC San Diego Department of Structural Engineering dedicated the Sho Funai Impact Research Facility in honor of Sho.

Sho Funai Physics Award

Palos Verdes High School has renamed its annual physics award the Sho Funai Physics Award. On May 22nd, physics teacher James Warren announced Sam Dupas as the recipient of the innagural Sho Funai Physics Award.
